Parents often say that one of the most stressful aspects of the college admissions process is motivating kids to write their essays. Even students who are normally confident writers can become overwhelmed, wondering how they’ll ever produce imaginative and memorable essays that reflect their character and personality.

How important is a great college essay? While grades, activities and letters of recommendation are all major elements of an application portfolio, the personal essay can make the difference between acceptance and rejection. That's because the main essay is a student's best opportunity to distinguish themselves with clarity and enthusiasm on a topic of their choice. Supplemental essays, required by many schools, seek additional insight into an applicant's academic and career goals, community service experiences or personal interests. I provide the encouragement and technical skills to allow even the most reluctant essayist to shine.

From brainstorming for topics through editing, polishing and proofreading, I help students create essays that express who they are with spirit and style. Having a writing coach on your team reduces the pressure of the college application process so both kids and parents are able to enjoy this exciting journey. Read on to learn how.
